Jason P. Fricano
At the core of my practice is the belief that estate planning is about more than just documents—it's about creating peace of mind, ensuring security, and fostering a sense of community and family. While my background in tax and business law offers lucrative opportunities, it’s the human connection and cooperative spirit of estate planning that truly ignites my passion.
MY Unique Professional Perspective
My journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from UC Berkeley, followed by a JD and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. My experience includes serving as Tax Counsel III at the California Franchise Tax Board, educating future professionals as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University, and advising hundreds of families and professionals on a variety of business, tax, and real estate matters. This diverse background equips me with a comprehensive understanding of complex legal landscapes, enabling me to guide my clients through intricate decisions with clarity and precision.
Driven by Values
I practice estate planning because it allows me to embrace and practice values I hold dear—honesty, community, family, learning, and preparedness. I thrive in a cooperative culture where working together leads to the best outcomes. The high-stakes, adversarial nature of tax and business law often emphasizes an “us vs. them” mentality, which I found often overshadowed the human element that drew me to law in the first place. Estate planning is inherently collaborative and focuses on protecting what matters most: family and loved ones.
Education and Community
Beyond my professional achievements, I am dedicated to education and community service. I have been featured as an author in the California Tax Lawyer and held leadership roles such as Chair of the Tax Section of the California Lawyers Association. My commitment extends to my personal life, where I have served as a board member of the California Alpha Nonprofit Association and as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Sacramento ALS Foundation. My practice is built on the belief that greater understanding—of ourselves, each other, and the law—is the cornerstone of effective estate planning.
Daily Life
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy exploring the contiguous 48 states in my travel trailer, sharing adventures with my (very) mixed-breed pup, Rooster, and striving for consistency on the bowling lanes, on the chessboard, or in life. The dedication and integrity I bring to my practice is a reflection of that which I live every day in my personal endeavors.
